About me
Deborah's family is very sad to update her website to record that she died on 20th December 2020. She had created new work through her final illness and had led a workshop on Zoom only a few weeks before she died.
I am a member of the Embroiderers' Guild, now working mainly in hand embroidery. 20+ years ago I studied patchwork and quilting through City & Guilds but in the last few years I discovered a love of hand embroidery and was awarded a City & Guilds Medal for Excellence in 2017 for Creative Textiles and a further prize from the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers (pictured left at St James' Palace with the Master, Joff Hamilton, and the Princess Royal).

I give talks about Palestinian dress and Bethlehem embroidery, and run workshops for interested groups.
Update March 2020: Due to the current situation with Covid19, all booked talks and workshops have had to be cancelled or postponed until we know that it is safe to reconvene groups and gatherings.
Throughout 2019 I have run 'Introduction to Tahriri' and 'Open Bethlehem' workshops at The Fabbadashery, 10-12 Clare Road, Halifax HX1 2HX and have taken part in events for International Womens' Day in Leeds and York, giving a short talk followed by a mini-workshop. See what 'Thecraftycreek' has to say about the workshop she attended.
As well as day workshops for Embroiderers' Guild branches in Leeds, Lincoln and Airedale during 2019, I will be holding workshops for Skipton, Manchester, Hull and Hallam Sheffield branches in 2020. (see update above, March 2020)

.....and some lovely comments from the 2019 Yearbook of the Embroiderers' Guild Yorkshire and Humber Region:
Sheffield branch - The 'Beast from the East' hit us in March (2018) so we had to delay our spring workshop until August. It was well worth the wait as we had an excellent day with Deborah Mullins learning about Bethlehem Couching and creating our own less formal pieces. The success of this day can be measured by the number of completed pieces that were on display at our AGM.
Airedale branch - I had been tipped off ...at the Regional Day 2017 that Deborah Mullins was moving into the area, and to get her booked. Deborah came along in the November and enthralled members with her talk on Palestinian embroidery, and members asked for a Day School....we are going to make our own felt at the end of January to work on.
