Borders
An ongoing collection of pieces using designs from Bethlehem tahriri borders, reflecting on the imposition of borders where there should be none and the everyday restriction of movement for Palestinians.
Qabbeh (bottom left) is my first piece creating a chestpiece to my own design, using traditional motifs and others found in the mosaics of the Nativity Church in Bethlehem. It is not destined for a dress so has no slit to allow access.
Al Quds Qabbeh (bottom right) incorporates a lino-printed motif from stonework on the Haram al-Sharif in the centre.
